Just breathe...

I spent a good portion of the weekend popping pills (Oxycodone in particular) and nursing a very tight neck and shoulder with a heating pad only to realize that I just need to...breathe!  I made an appointment to see a Nurse Practitioner at Hubert Humphrey this afternoon so she could check out my neck for herself and decide what to do with me!  I figured maybe she'd prescribe me a muscle relaxer.  I carry a pharmacy in my purse these days, I figured, what's one more pill?  Her answer was simple.  I need to chill out.  Apparently my stress and anxiety is deciding to show its ugly face in the form of a solid knot down the right side of my neck and shoulder.  It's so obnoxious!  When it really gets going, it'll even send shooting pains down my arm, which is AWESOME...not.

I'm hoping I will be able to find better ways to cope with this stress and anxiety I'm carrying on my shoulders (literally).  The NP told me to look into getting regular massages as a way to relax the body, along with acupuncture which I'm trying out on Monday.  She also directed me to google search Pathways, which appears to be an organization that offers services for people seeking healing (which I am!).  Finding ways to lower the anxiety and increase my energy levels so that I'm in prime cancer butt-kicking mode is what it's all about so I think I'm going to seriously check it out.

On another note, I'm sure most of you already know, but I got the results back from the MUGA and Bone Marrow test late last week.  They both came back NORMAL. No cancer found in the bones, which is a big deal.  I figured the heart test (MUGA) would come back ok, but it's nice to have that reassurance.  Now we just focus on the next 6 months with these bi-weekly chemo treatments.  The next one is this Friday, which is also my brother Kevin's 23rd birthday.  Pray that the chemo session goes well, and that I feel well enough to celebrate Kev's birthday that evening with steak...and cake!?  =)
